Update: The solution proposed by Enzo_Vincenzo ET Final Solution to the crash of Word 2008 Mac with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 (just inserted, in English, also on MacTopia Microsoft Word 2008). First, make sure you have removed any residue and preferences of earlier versions of Office. The problem may result either from errors in Leopard Permissions and / or package containing the grammar and is located in "/ Applications / Microsoft Office Applications 2008/Office/Shared / ProofingTools /"). It 's true, as some suggest, that it is enough to remove the package' ItalianGrammar.proofingtool 'from "Microsoft Office Applications 2008/Office/Shared / ProofingTools /" and Word 2008 will not hang at startup more ... Doing so, however ... lose all power to use the grammar! Explanation Immediately after installing Office 2008, if we examine the permissions of the folders and files in "Microsoft Office 2008" Serving the Finder's Inspector (= Apple key + I), we see that they are _unknown ( -User)) and admin (the Group).
